Advice for New Residents: Get outside and explore! Check out your local park district, libraries, and go online to chambanamoms.com, smilepolitely.com, and visitchampaigncounty.org for events. Both Champaign and Urbana park districts and libraries provide amazing programming for all ages, have incredible events that support local businesses and organizations, and the buildings/parks are wonderful. Contrary to common belief, there’s more than beans and corn in this region. I also recommend browsing the Urbana Farmer’s Market, camping at the Middle Fork Forest Preserve for a sensational dark sky, bringing take-out from one of our amazing restaurants (thank you Midwest Living for the title of Greatest Foodtown in the Midwest!) to one of our local breweries, or walking through Meadowbrook or Busey Woods for some in-town nature time.
