About the Role

Applied Pavement Technology, Inc (APTech) is seeking an Engineering Technician to join a team of skilled engineers and technicians responsible for providing engineering services to our Commercial Airport and Military clients across the United States and Canada. This Engineering Technician position will support Civil Engineers by developing and updating maps (GIS and CAD), assisting with field data collection activities, performing pavement testing using specialized equipment, and supporting other project-related work. APTech’s projects include work on airfields, roadways, and military facilities.

Responsibilities

This full-time position offers the opportunity for multi-day travel and will require occasional night work. This Engineering Technician position will receive paid travel expenses and per diem allowance for meals during travel. An Engineering Technician at APTech is responsible for:

  • Creating and updating two-dimensional maps using ArcGIS and AutoCAD.
  • Managing database developments and indexing.
  • Operating and maintaining testing equipment.
  • Assisting engineers with pavement inspections.

APTech will train and develop successful applicants on the operation and use of the following specialized testing equipment:

  • Falling weight deflectometer.
  • Automated distress data collection vehicle.

APTech will also provide training in forming pavement condition inspections and the use of associated data management software.

Requirements

Preference will be given to individuals with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as from a construction, geography, surveying, or engineering technician program). Other qualifications include:

  • Experience with ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of MicroStation CAD software is a plus.
  • Good overall computer usage skills, including familiarity with the Microsoft Office software suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Good communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Punctuality, trustworthiness, and professionalism when working independently.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends when necessary.
