About the Role

COUNTRY Financial is seeking a Data Science intern. This position will be in our DigitaLab at the University of Illinois Research Park in Champaign, IL. As a Data Scientist you will be working with business partners and COUNTRY Technology, including Applied Analytics and Finance, to develop and test data and software development solutions for our COUNTRY Financial clients, representatives, and employees.

Responsibilities

  • Deep dive into competitive intelligence for our products
  • Conduct analysis to gain quicker, streamlined understanding of our business results and trends
  • Utilize machine learning methods to create data models, concepts such as regression, classification, and forecasting
  • Work closely with DigitaLab Software Developer interns on delivering working solutions (Application Development, Generative AI, etc.)
  • Collaborate with DigitaLab Software Developer and UI/UX interns on cross-functional teams
  • Participate in Agile Release Trains

Requirements

  • Must be actively pursuing a college degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for the duration of the internship
  • Self-motivated learner with leadership capabilities
  • Strong collaboration, written and oral communication skills
  • Experience gathering data and building solutions
  • Understanding and knowledge of business use cases
  • Understanding and knowledge of databases, data modeling, and statistical concepts
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with some of the following:

    Python, R, Tableau, SQL

    Version Tools (Git, SVN)

  • A working knowledge of the following is preferred:

    Cloud Platforms (Microsoft Azure)

    Containerization

    NLP

    Database engineering and administration

    Integration with software development
