Advice for New Residents: This place will feel expansive and flat; do not be daunted. It may feel like you need a car, but take advantage of the reliable and affordable bus system. Explore the galleries at the university, the shows at the Krannert Center, the live music at The Rose Bowl, and the outdoor summer concerts in Champaign, the arboretum. Additionally, depending on where you are from, you can find a large selection of foods at the World Harvest International Market. My wife is Ukrainian, so we are often there for her various dried fish! And of course, there is no shortage of Asian markets. Food is one thing we miss the most, and this can be a great bridge to home. The movies at the Phoenix Theatre in Savoy are $5 on Tuesdays. Take advantage of a great place somewhere between a town and a city. If you are really missing big city life, we are not far from Chicago for a little weekend of great tourism.
